Will the backwaters from the canal be restored to “normal” levels when the dam is complete? Yes
What is the normal level of the lake and what is the level at the lowest? (how far down have you drawn the lake?)
Normal – 882.50 +/- 3 inches
Now – 875.85
Down about 7 ft. from normal
How long will it take to fill the lake when you are done? The DNR will be setting the fill rate. We have not been told what that will be at yet.
Will the dam need to be inspected when it is done, before you start to fill the lake? No, It will be checked periodically during the construction.
I'm not sure that you will get this but if you do so much the better. I was at the meeting at the Riv last week and I read your summary of it on the site. One thing that wasn't mentioned was the possibility or likelihood of the lake coming up enough after a rain to make it difficult to determine whether or not it was a risk to leave your boat tied up to the existing shore. If the lake goes out the boat will just be high and dry, but if it comes up much , it will be floating free. Any thoughts? We will be trying to hold the lake level steady so I don't think that will happen.
