Mike Peterson of the Lake Association has volunteered to be the liaison coordinating the actions of members and disseminating information to interested members.
The Association working with the Clark County Land Conservation Office are presently developing a short term and long term plan to address the needs of members affected by the storm.
Matt Zoschke
County Conservationist is taking the lead on this project. His
office and staff will be forming a plan to distribute to members and affected
land owners. Matt's initial thoughts are to think of the properties in
zones.
Lake Shore
Residential
Back lots.
His first thought is that so late in the growing season, we will not be able to plane and effectively address the issue of the back lots before winter. So we should be dealing with the clean up of the Residential portion of our lots along with protecting the shoreline to prevent erosion and runoff.
His office will be looking for grants to help with costs, and will be
willing to be our liaison to other government agencies to see what money is
available to help. The will also be available
to address any concerns with permits and other government "red tape" involved
with our recovery process.
Please consult with Matt before burning any large amount of the brush left behind from the storm and logging. This may be counter productive to allowing nutrients and seeds to remain on the land. Matt will be offering suggestions as soon as they develop a plan.

The Association is looking into buying seedlings from the spring DNR sale. The minimum is usually 1000 trees, but with the Association buying the trees, we will be able to sell to members in smaller amounts. Please contact Mike Peterson at the above address if you are interested in buying trees. The Land Conservation office will help with plans and manpower to plant the trees. We will provide more information as we get it.
